Teaser Trailer for Spike TV’s New Animated Series Afro Samurai
Our first look at the new Spike TV animated series Afro Samurai is now online, and it looks pretty damn stylish and cool. Based on a Japanese manga by Takashi Okazaki, the series will feature Samuel L. Jackson as the voice of the main character, who is (obviously) a samurai named Afro, on a quest to avenge his father’s murder. The first season will feature a 5 episode run, schedule to air this fall on Spike, and will be set in a “futuristic, yet feudal Japan”. The animation is produced by Funimation, the same people who did Dragonball Z and Fullmetal Alchemist. It’s hard to get a sense for what the show might be like since the teaser trailer features very little dialogue, but I am curious to see more. As the trailer mentions, the music for the series is also provided by The RZA. You can check out the trailer now over at www.afrosamurai.com, but I’ve linked a YouTube mirror below just because the official site seemed pretty slow.

i am starting to think that Spike TV is starting to get some good shows on here. they have been showing alot of classic action movies of late and some of the shows are good too. Raising The Roofs is a funny ass show, it would be better uncensored though.
Posted by Chopper on August 9th, 2006so this new animation might not be too bad, i mean mister snake on the plane is voicing it so it should be good. i will check it out.
RETARDED
Posted by Jay C. on August 9th, 2006I think this has potential. And Chopper has it right on. As of late, Spike has really been churning out some good shows and general programing. I’ll watch an episode or two and see if I get sucked in.

Posted by daniel on November 11th, 2007It’s about time someone does anything about blacks in a movie like this! I remember kung fu theater. It effected so many of my black friends. On Saturday no one was out side when this was on. Once off, people came out to do their moves and do the “off”, dialog. I saw the second disc and it made sense. Thanks!
