Monday Morning Box Office Bonanza: Aug. 7, 2006
The clear winner at the box office this week is Will Ferrell’s NASCAR comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, taking in $47 million. Not surprisingly, the newest CG movie Barnyard: The Original Party Animals came in second, despite pitiful reviews. I’m a little disappointed to see that The Descent only managed $8.8 million, although I guess it’s to be expected for a movie with no stars in it. This weekend’s other new movie, The Night Listener starring Robin Williams, brought in only $3.6 mill.
1. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby — $47M
2. Barnyard: The Original Party Animals — $16M
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest — $11M
4. Miami Vice — $9.7M
5. The Descent — $8.8M
6. John Tucker Must Die — $6.05M
7. Monster House — $6M
8. The Ant Bully — $3.9M
9. The Night Listener — $3.6M
10. You, Me and Dupree — $3.6M

Ricky Bobby was first this past weekend because of all the NASCAR fans out there. Next weekend it’ll be Will Ferril fans.
Posted by Bassmasta-Baychuk on August 7th, 2006i am not surprised that ricky bobby came in first, this summer needed a comedy hit for sure. i am surprised that The Descent didnt do better, i mean its the guys that brought us the Saw flicks. and its too bad about the latest Robin Williams movie, it looked good, but maybe it would have been better to release it in the fall.
