Trailer for The Grudge 2 Premieres Online

I liked the original Japanese version of Ju-on: The Grudge; even though it played on a lot of the same images and tricks we’ve been seeing in horror movies for years now, it still freaked me out. I never did see the U.S. version of the film, but I’m assuming it was decent since it was directed by the same guy and looked like basically a shot for shot remake. Now along comes the sequel, The Grudge 2. It’s directed again by Takashi Shimizu (before he went on to shoot Ju-on 3 in Japan), and Sarah Michelle Gellar is back, although the movie seems to be mostly about her sister (played by Amber Tamblyn). I don’t know if it’s just that there have been so many Japanese horror movies re-released and re-made over here in North America recently, but it’s all kind of starting to lose its effect for me. This trailer just seemed like a parody of J-Horror, with manufactured scares and creepy kids jumping out from the most ridiculous every day locations. It’s not scary at all anymore. I think this one’s going to be a hard sell. Anyone else starting to get tired of it yet?

  1. hated the first one, cant say that i am excited for this one at all.

  2. I prefered the Japanese versions…I have ‘em all…including the Ringu series.

You have to admit that girl ghost crawling underneath the bed covers was freaky.
