Time for some good ol’ juicy casting rumours… and not Batman casting rumours either. We’re talking Jon Favreau’s Iron Man (you know, that still sounds weird to me). Ain’t It Cool News has the inside scoop that Terrence Howard has been offered a role in the flick, but before you go flipping out over the fact that Tony Stark isn’t a black man, it looks like Howard is most likely being courted to play James Rhodes. Who is James Rhodes? A former U.S. marine and friend to Tony Stark, Rhodes donned the suit of Iron Man for a brief period while Stark was recovering from one of his alcoholic binges. I’m not sure how that plays into the film, but I think Rhodes eventually became an enemy of Stark because he didn’t want to give up the suit. Could be an interesting storyline if they decide to go with it. Besides that, I dig Terrence Howard. He’s really put in some great performances recently, from Crash to Hustle & Flow to Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Of course, this is all secondary to the question of who will play Tony Stark, which is still a grey area, but it does bode well for the Iron Man movie in general. Agree/disagree?
