  1. Now I wanna see The Vanishing even more. Even though I already know the ending (spoilers are ruining my life).

JC rules, because RoboCop is awesome. It doesn’t have much nudity though. Verhoevens later works are a bit more exploitational that way (Hollow Man anyone?).

Was Jamie Foxx good in MV, or annoying? People pretty much know what to expect from Colin Farrell but if he is like a smarmy annoying ‘black cop’ there’s no way I wanna see the movie. And like you kinda mentioned – Michael Mann’s movies are ALWAYS long. Some of the to the point its ridiculous.

  2. Oh shite as for length, I think it’s too short.

  3. Just by the picutre you can tell that the leading men in Miami Vice had ZERO chemistry togehter.

At least the original Tubbs & Crockett did.

  4. Sympathy For Lady Vengeance is a great movie. I was lucky enough to see a pre screening and as soon as the DVD came out here in the UK, I bought it ffor my best buddy who had previously bought me Old Boy on DVD.

I enjoyed the style of Old Boy very much but thought the twist was too gross (even though I guessed it quite early on). I also found it hard to believe that someone would spend their whole life building up a business empire to afford to get his revenge instead of just going out and whacking the guy!

Lady Vengeance is much better and more beautifully shot. The fact that it is some ways less intense is a good thing, certainly helped out by the dark humour.

I guess the difference is that you do care what happens to a lot of the characters in Lady Vengeance … a lot more than you did in Old Boy. Plus any movie with snow in it is a good movie….

  5. Also I don’t think you guys really picked out many real cop movies. Cop movies are like…

    How could you overlook:
    Dirty Harry
    Bullitt
    The Last Boy Scout
    Reservoir Dogs
Infernal Affairs (great movie but not as good as the praise it received).
Wolfen (but also a very good werewolf movie)
Outland (sci-cop movie or sci-fi western?)

  6. And before I forget… guys, don’t make two shows. Just keep it to one weekly show. Who cares how long it is? It’s more of a hassle to download more often (and put it onto my mp3 player if that’s how I want to listen).

  7. Big Al has made some very prominent points!

As for the poll “other” means fuck all if you can’t place your own entry. If you put a list up people need to choose from that list.

Sean, I sent you my very email to you. Let me know what you think.

  8. Yeah, “Other” is kind of a cop out in the poll but for some of these categories I guess I wanted a way for people to be able to indicate that we missed an important entry. If “Other” comes out on top then we know that people we were way off base with our poll.

I might try to set it up so people can leave comments on the poll or something though.

  9. Hey Big Al,

You also left a critical cop movie off of your list, The French Connection! And what about Serpico?!

My point is that there’s HUNDREDS of crucial cop films out there, and i know with my list i was trying to mention the not-so-obvious ones to keep it fresh and not just re-has the poll. But believe me, my top five was not representive of all cop movies from now to eternity.

Good point with the multiple shows. I guess it could be a pain in the ass for some. Hopefully we can just tighten up what we have going on now.

    Thanks for continuing to listen.

  10. Looks like “Other” may come out on top with this week’s poll. My vote for best concert film is The Last Waltz which would go under “Other”.

  11. yeah, i was just gonna say what nuno said. where’s the last waltz? maybe that’s why “other” is so high?

  12. It was on my long list but I cut it down since you can only have 10 options. But I guess this is a good argument for why “Other” needs to be there!
