in all honesty, this movie looks like crap and is a crappy ripoff of Infernal Affairs. Why take a perfectly good movie, swallow it, and regrugitate it back out with an unfitful cast? The North American movie industry has faled time and time again to make good asian remakes, and it would be shameful that this movie is nominated for any Oscars, If they are and they win, they’d better give the credits tot he masterminds of the original masterpiece. Go check out the trailer for internal affairs and the departed on youtube. Notice the difference, notice the quality. Notice the strength of the actors and the directing. Scorsese and directos alike grab their fame because of media. In Hong Kong, people are pretty humble, and teir skills are not for boasting, they’re just purely good at what they do. Check it out.

i am looking foward to seeing this one for sure, scorsese is one of the greatest directors out there for sure. the cast looks great, jack is back.

I’ve seen Infernal Affairs and it awesome, as for this being similar, yes. there are some shots in the trailer that are pretty much identical.

The only reason I knew about it was I remembered there was alot of fuzz about DiCaprio capturing the rights to it, and of course plenty of people were worried if they would do it justice.

I have never been near a copy of the movie. All I know is that it is about corrupt cops..

How do you mean he’s over the top? I think he’s better when he gets bigger. He does good action, I really liked the action scenes in Gangs of New York, and he was able to capture a good sense of mayhem with the riots. He also does pretty sick death scenes.

He reminds me of Spielberg in that way. Funny how neither writes their own stuff

Nope, didn’t know it was a remake… that’s interesting. I wonder how similar it is. Infernal Affairs is a pretty popular movie isn’t it?

Scorsese’s a little over the top sometimes… but still awesome. The Aviator ruled.

Sorry for doubleposting, but sometimes my ADD kicks in while in the middle of commenting.

I don’t like Martin Scorsese one bit. I haven’t seen all of his movies, but I saw Taxi Driver and thought it was pretty horrible. I didn’t like The Aviator very much, though like I said I’m a big fan of DiCaprio and I thought he delivered a great performance. Gangs of New York was interesting, but extremely long, and everytime Cameron Diaz’s character was on screen, it was pretty much shit. Casino had the same problems. Insane running time, and lame T&A females. I don’t like Robert de Niro at all either, so it doesn’t help I guess.

I haven’t seen any other of his movies, but I have a feeling it wouldn’t be worth it. The same people who praise Taxi Driver basicly praise Raging Bull, Mean Streets and Goodfellas for alot of the same reasons.

That being said, this sounds really, really interesting. Did you know it’s a remake of an asian movie? “Infernal Affairs”

I’m a big Leonardo DiCaprio fan. He works hard, and gives good performances.

I think it also helps that I’m too young to have been jealous at him in 1997.
