Pee-Wee Herman Preparing To Stage A Comeback?
“Paging Mr. Herman… Mr. Herman, you have a telephone call at the front desk!” Could it be that Paul Reubens, the actor best known for his beloved kids show alter ego Pee-Wee Herman, is starting to get some work in Hollywood again? Good to know that the whole “masturbation in a porn theatre” label wears off after about 15 years or so. There were rumours about him being considered for the role of The Joker in the next Batman movie, and while I don’t necessarily believe that, he did recently star in a video for The Raconteurs’ song “Steady As She Goes“, in addition to landing roles in David Arquette’s new movie The Tripper and the upcoming Reno 911!: Miami. And now, according to an interview with The Onion AV Club, Pee-Wee himself is preparing to head back to the big screen. In February 2007, Reubens is hoping to start shooting a sequel of sorts to the Pee-wee’s Playhouse TV show, with the various characters such as Chairy and Conky the Robot all joining Pee-Wee on an epic adventure outside the Playhouse. He also says that there is a script for a “dark Pee-Wee” movie that he’s hoping to shoot as well, although personally I’d much rather see the kid-friendly one — hopefully done in a similar vein to Tim Burton’s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. This sounds like great news, but the big question I have though, is will Larry Fishburne once again don the boots and leather chaps of Cowboy Curtis? Only time will tell.

Posted by Goon on July 26th, 2006yeah, i remember him saying 5 years ago that he was making two pee-wee movies – one for kids and another for adults (whatever that means). i hope it happens but i’ve stopped waiting for them.
Posted by katie on July 26th, 2006i would like to see more of reubens on the big screen, not necessarily as pee wee, but in small roles like he did in Blow. i think that he could be a great character actor.
