Snakes On A Train To Be Released Before Snakes On A Plane

Wherever there’s a quick buck to be had, you’ve gotta believe someone out there in this world will find it. Remember a while back when someone registered a bunch of “Snakes On A” movie titles and everyone thought it was New Line preparing for the inevitable sequel? Well, looks like it wasn’t New Line after all, but rather just an opportunistic low budget movie producer who was quite cleverly trying to capitalize on the whole Snakes On A Plane fan movement. Now they’ve just announced that on August 15th, mere days before SOAP hits theatres, The Asylum will release the first of what will probably be many low budget knock offs: Snakes On A Train! The movie is directed by Peter Mervis (The Da Vinci Treasure, Dead Men Walking) and stars Alby Castro, Ryanne Ruiz and Giovanni Bejarano. New Line and Snakes On A Plane fans are understandably a little ticked off that a true b-movie has suddenly come along to trump their attempt at cinematic irony. Personally I think it’s hilarious. But what are the odds Snakes on a Train will actually end up being the better movie?

  1. what a bunch of bandwagoners, i mean at least wait until the movie is out to start ripping it off. what a bunck of wankers.

  2. Have you read the synopsis? From what I gather that director was given complete control over Snakes on a Train, provided there were snakes and a train involved. It actually looks really good. And I love that a larger studio is failing at emulating trash film promotion when a real low-budget company can step in and make a poster that feels oh so right.

  3. Yeah it sounds wicked, and I find it interesting on so many levels. It’s like the low budget scene reclaiming what mainstream studios tried to steal from them. I can’t wait to see the trailer for this thing.
