New To Theatres This Weekend – July 21, 2006

The summer movies are coming out in full force this weekend, and studios must be hoping that theatres will be packed with 4 major releases competing for box office dough starting today. It should be interesting to see which flicks the public is most interested in. I would have thought Lady in the Water might attract the biggest crowds, but with poor reviews and no major stars it could just as easily drown. And how big is Kevin Smith’s cult following really?   2. I am in shock, I’m in fact embarrassed to say it… I still think Kevin Smith is somewhat of a tool, I still think he’s been coasting on his rep for way too long, etc, etc,

    but I actually thoroughly enjoyed Clerks 2. in fact, its probably my favorite movie from this year, and I’m trying to think right now of a better comedy sequel, ever… (keep in mind its the ‘year of disappointments’ for me, and my opinion of this movie was likely influenced by low expectations)
