Here comes a pretty big announcement this week for Trekkies and Trekkers alike. The long awaited Star Trek Animated Series will finally be coming to DVD this November in a 4-disc box set. The show has long been praised for having intelligent writing despite being a cartoon, and includes an episode that won a Peabody Award, and an episode penned by Walter Koenig (Chekov). The show originally aired on Saturday mornings between 1973 and 74, and featured 22 episodes in all. Extras on the DVD set include “Drawn To The Final Frontier: The Making Of Star Trek: The Animated Series” featurette, “What’s The Star Trek Connection?” featurette, show history, photo gallery, and text commentaries on 3 episodes by Michael and Denise Okuda. Look for it in stores on November 21st with an estimated price tag of $35.00 U.S.
