Ving Rhames and Mira Sorvino in Day of the Dead Remake

Well this sounds like pretty good news for the upcoming Day of the Dead remake that’s currently in the works over at Universal. It appears that Ving Rhames has signed on to star in the movie, which helps connect it with the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake and make it a true “sequel”. Mira Sorvino has also reportedly joined the cast, perhaps to take on the role of Sarah Polley’s character from Dawn of the Dead? Okay that’s just pure speculation on my part, mainly because they look sort of similar, but it’s probably not the case. Still, I gotta say this Day of the Dead remake is looking better and better all the time. Important to note: it has no relation to that unofficial low budget sequel Day of the Dead 2: Contagium. This is a studio remake of George Romero’s classic, directed by none other than Steve Miner (Friday The 13th Parts II and III, House, Halloween H20). It starts filming on July 23rd, with a projected release date sometime in 2007.
