Blade TV Series Premieres on Spike TV Tomorrow

Let me start by saying that I still haven’t seen Blade Trinity, and from what I know about it, I don’t think I want to. But that won’t stop me from checking out Blade: The Series when it premieres tomorrow night on Spike TV! Why, you ask? Well for one thing, TV is free (cable bills notwithstanding). But don’t kid yourself, I’m well aware that it probably will be bad (even Spike TV seems hesitant as they’re premiering it in June). Still, the thing I loved about the first two Blade movies is that they tried so hard to be dark and hip and edgy that they ended up being a whole lot of over-the-top fun. Whether or not the character will work without Wesley Snipes remains to be seen, but former rapper Sticky Fingaz has gotta bring at least a little bit of bad ass-ness to the screen. David S. Goyer, who wrote all of the Blade movies and directed the 3rd one, is executive producing, while Peter O’Fallon (Suicide Kings) directed the pilot. If you haven’t seen the commercials yet, you can check out a trailer at the link below. The first episode airs tomorrow (Wednesday) on Spike at 10 pm.

  1. Spike is promoting the daylights out of this thing and they have been for months. I haven’t seen any of the Blade movies and probably won’t see this either. No interest.

  2. I enjoyed Blade Tinity simply because of the killer lines given to Reynolds. His character is fabulous for comic relief (like we really needed any). Seriously, worth watching just for that.

As for the show, I think it has potential and be assured I’ll be in front of the TV tomorrow night watching. Hope it’s good!

  3. i am sure that this show will fine its cult fans. i liked the first Blade movie but havent seen the last 2 or 3 flicks. no interest in seeing this at all.
