It’s Official: Futurama Is Back!
I feel like this is the third or fourth time I’ve posted this exact same story, but this time it looks like we’ve finally got an official announcement to back it up. Reuters reports that Matt Groening’s animated series Futurama is going back into production, with at least 13 new episodes slated to be ready by 2008. The show originally ended its run back in 2003, but strong DVD sales and re-run ratings have inspired Comedy Central to pick up the option for a whole new season. Voice actors Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have all agreed to return. It’s unclear what this means for the direct to video Futurama TV movies that were also rumoured at one point, but overall I’d say this is a great thing. After The Family Guy’s triumphant return to the airwaves, I have no doubt that Futurama’s resurrection will be a successful one.

Futurama’s creators put together an animated trailer for “An Inconvenient Truth”
The Gore/Futurama connection is pretty tight, considering Al Gore’s daughter Kristin was one of the head writers of the show.
