Conan The Barbarian: The Remake
There’s been plenty of talk about a new Conan movie over the past few years. It seemed pretty clear that Warner Bros wanted to continue the franchise by making a new film based on another one of Robert E. Howard’s novels. The title most frequently cited was King Conan: Crown of Iron, which would find Conan older and ruling over the land of Zingara. There have been all kinds of casting rumours, from wrestling stars The Rock and Triple H, back to Arnold himself. Both Robert Rodriguez and The Wachowski Brothers were rumoured to be interested in directing, in addition to original Conan The Barbarian director John Milius. Well now, after having all these possibilities floated in front of our eyes, we’re getting some rather disappointing news. WB has hired Boaz Yakin to write and possibly direct a remake of Conan The Barbarian. This is the same guy who wrote the 1989 version of The Punisher starring Dolph Lundgren, and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. He also directed Remember The Titans and Uptown Girls. But more than anything, I just can’t believe they’re going the lazy route and doing a remake of the first Conan movie. Why oh why must it always be a remake? Yakin claims he will be more true to Howard’s story, but honestly, I think all my enthusiasm for resurrecting this franchise has just fizzled out.

i dont know who should fill the role of conan, definitely not arnie, unless he is playing the father of the new one. they should just get a no-name bodybuilder to do it and see where it goes from there. and they should do a fresh story instead of a bloody remake.

Posted by Me on July 31st, 2007Dude, that’s not a bad cast except for the Rock. Fuck that. That guy is too much of a puss to play Conan. I agree wih the previous poster, find a no name body builder. Having arnold as the father is a DAMN good idea! That would be a perfect role for him. Paris Hilton as the daughter would be a nice touch too!
