Bill Maher vs Religion In Documentary “A Spiritual Journey”

A lot of people love him and a lot of people hate him… I just happen to be in the first camp. Comedian Bill Maher has never been afraid to tackle tough issues, and his show Politically Incorrect played host to some great debates over the years. Unfortunately Maher’s inability to hold back was what eventually got the show cancelled after his harsh criticisms of George W. Bush. He now has a similar show on HBO called Real Time with Bill Maher, unfortunately I don’t know if it’s available in Canada (I think you can download the shows as a podcast though?). Variety reports (via /Film) that Maher will also be producing and starring in a new documentary about the state of world religion called A Spiritual Journey. It’s no secret that Maher is not a supporter of organized religion, and has called it a form of “insanity by consensus”. He is quick to note, however, that he is an agnostic, not an atheist. The idea behind the movie is that he will try to objectively interview various religious figures in order to disprove his own theories. No director has been announced for the movie as of yet, but I’m sure it will offend a lot of people, and I can’t wait to see it.

  2. I would download Real Time with Bill Maher as a podcast, unfortunately I think it is now blocked in Canada. It was a really good show. I can’t wait to see this movie.
