Trailer For Luc Besson’s Animated Epic “Arthur and the Minimoys”
Luc Besson is certainly known for directing and producing a lot of action movies, but who would have thought the guy also wrote children’s books? Arthur et les Minimoys (Arthur and the Minimoys), his first novel for young readers, was published in April of last year. And now he’s turning it into a digitally animated feature film. The story is about a 10 year old named Arthur, whose grandmother’s home is about to be demolished by a real estate developer. He sets off on a quest to the land of the Minimoys, to recover a stolen treasure by following notes left by his late grandfather. The first trailer for the movie has popped up on Yahoo! France, and although my first impression was not a good one, as I continued to watch, I started to think that just maybe this might end up being the truly epic fantasy adventure it wants to be. The character designs reminded me a little of The Dark Crystal, so that probably helped a bit. The English dubbed version will feature the voices of Madonna, David Bowie, Mia Farrow and Snoop Dogg, among others. Arthur and the Minimoys will be released by The Weinstein Company on Christmas of this year. Check out the trailer below.
