They are just doing this for marketing purposes. ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s just like all those rumors of people dyeing and fainting and crapping their pants while watching Hostel. It makes you want to see for your self. But in this case they are using the Mpaa bull crap.

i actually liked the new version of the massacre, so i am interested in seeing the prequel. i dont think that it should be rewritten, should stick the original backstory.

Okay I was just reading more about this so-called “gimmick” over at Ain’t It Cool News.

If what New Line says is true, apparently the MPAA thought the trailer was too intense to play before anything other than R-rated movies, and they also said it was too intense to play on the internet. On the internet!!!!!!!! Have they ever visited rotten.com??

So New Line appealed and asked to release it online but with the time restrictions… which, given the turn-your-clock-back-manually trick, is absolutely ridiculous but I guess the MPAA bought it. Weird shit.
