Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning Trailer Online… But Only At Night?
Well here I was, all set to be annoyed and unimpressed by the trailer for the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, when suddenly I get to the Apple page and it says the trailer is only viewable between 10 pm and 4 am. Wait a minute, first of all Michael Bay thinks he can go and rewrite the Texas Chainsaw Massacre story and now he wants me to work to see the damn trailer?! No thanks! What a stupid gimmick. Thankfully, Richard over at Filmstalker clarified that you can just adjust your computer’s clock manually to access the trailer (I guess the website doesn’t use the server’s clock, as one might assume). So now that I’ve seen it, I can say that as a trailer, it’s pretty effective. It uses that same creepy sound effect that the trailer for Bay’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake used, and it creates suspense by not revealing too much. I still don’t know how much I care to see the movie though. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, who did Darkness Falls and was supposed to direct the new Friday the 13th remake (which doesn’t seem to be happening anymore), and stars a bunch of hot young unknowns. It hits theatres sometime in October.

Okay I was just reading more about this so-called “gimmick” over at Ain’t It Cool News.
If what New Line says is true, apparently the MPAA thought the trailer was too intense to play before anything other than R-rated movies, and they also said it was too intense to play on the internet. On the internet!!!!!!!! Have they ever visited rotten.com??
So New Line appealed and asked to release it online but with the time restrictions… which, given the turn-your-clock-back-manually trick, is absolutely ridiculous but I guess the MPAA bought it. Weird shit.

Posted by Bassmasta-Baychuk on June 7th, 2006This is some weird stuff. Limiting what’s on the internet? That’s ridiculous.
Posted by themarina on June 7th, 2006i actually liked the new version of the massacre, so i am interested in seeing the prequel. i dont think that it should be rewritten, should stick the original backstory.
Posted by Chopper on June 8th, 2006They are just doing this for marketing purposes. It’s just like all those rumors of people dyeing and fainting and crapping their pants while watching Hostel. It makes you want to see for your self. But in this case they are using the Mpaa bull crap.
“OMG it’s so scary they almost didn’t release the trailer”
I sat here turning my clock back and it still didn’t work for me.
Now I’m more curious then ever, but now if I watch it THEY WIN!
