I'm still not sure why we haven't seen many successful live action TV shows based on comic books aside from say, Smallville, or the 60's Batman series. A feature film would probably have to tone down or outright censor much of the content, let alone condense or completely change the storylines. If done right, the prospect of a quality series based on graphic novels would be a far better alternative for many titles being considered for film adaptions, including Y The Last Man and The Watchmen (as an HBO miniseries?).
