The Tick Animated Series: The Belated 10th Anniversary DVD Set Announced

Hey there folks, Sean here. We’re back from Greece safe and sound, and although I’m still a little jet lagged and missing my luggage, it’s nice to have the power of the internet plugged into my veins once again. (Stay tuned to my personal blog for photos and some short travel logs for anyone interested.) Anyways, as I try to catch up on a week’s worth of news, I found this huge headline that I had to post right off the bat. We’ve finally got an official announcement about The Tick animated series coming to DVD! I’ve been waiting forever to hear those words, but the release of this cult classic series was reportedly held up for years due to legal issues. So it’s with great excitement that I read that the first season will hit stores in August. However, there’s a little bit of a problem that has some Tick fans upset. It seems The Tick: Season 1 is actually called The Tick: The Belated 10th Anniversary Edition — the reason being that it’s not the “Complete First Season” as one of the 13 first season episodes had to be pulled at the last minute due to those damn legal issues again. So this leads to a lot of speculation as to which episode it is, and whether or not we’ll be seeing Season 2 or 3 on DVD. (I’m wondering if it’s the episode “The Tick vs Arthur’s Bank Account” which featured The Terror, who also appeared in the live action series.) Unfortunately it looks as though there are no extras on the DVDs either, with the exception of a collectible lithograph from Ben Edlund. I guess that’s all a little disappointing, but I’ll be happy just to have good quality copies of these episodes finally. The Tick: The Belated 10th Anniversary Edition hits stores on August 29th with a price tag of $34.99 US.
