Ghostbusters 3: Ghostbusters In Hell?
People have been talking for years about the possibility of a 3rd Ghostbusters movie… and why not? Out of all the blockbuster movie franchises out there, Ghostbusters is one of the few that never made it to a full trilogy (ie. it never had a chance to get shitty). The sticking point always seems to be getting a script that’s good enough to convince all the big names to sign on. Harold Ramis, however, seems to think he has the perfect script nailed down, and in a recent interview he revealed the basic concept. In the tradition of such great sequels as Jason Goes To Hell and Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, the new Ghostbusters film would be called “Ghostbusters in Hell”. The truly deep part of it all is the fact that hell in this case is actually just New York, but with gridlocked traffic and no one speaking the same language. As Ramis puts it, “It’s all the worst things about modern urban life, just magnified”. Not surprisingly, Bill Murray seems to be the hold out on this one… come on Bill, you’re no fun anymore! In his place, Ramis is reportedly trying to get Ben Stiller to star as a new Ghostbuster. IMDB also lists Ramis as having an untitled project in the works with Owen Wilson… I say get Wilson and Stiller on board, then recruit Wes Anderson to direct and you just might convince Murray to sign on! But let’s be realistic here… we’ll see Ghostbusters in Hell in theatres when hell freezes over.
