Metal Gear Solid Movie Confirmed In The Works

There have been a lot of rumours floating around lately about a Metal Gear Solid feature film. Of course, at one point Uwe Boll stuck his head up and declared his own personal interest in the project, which sent worried fans into a tizzy and seemingly spurred Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima into action. Rest assured, Boll is not involved, but Kojima recently confirmed that a Hollywood adaptation of Metal Gear Solid is finally in the works. Kojima had this to say: “It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement. False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.” No word yet on who might direct or produce, but I am curious to see what might come of this project. On the one hand, video game adaptations have not fared very well on the big screen, but on the other hand, many people would say that the Metal Gear Solid games are basically movies that you occasionally play anyway, what with the lengthy and dramatic cut scenes that take place. Since Kojima is an admitted huge fan of Escape From New York (which is where he stole the name “Snake” from), let me cast my vote for director of this movie: Mr. John Carpenter! Seriously why not? Anyone out there want to throw out their own dream director for this project? And who should play Solid Snake (aside from Kurt Russell I mean)?
