World of Warcraft Movie Rights Acquired
It was only a matter of time before someone decided to bring Blizzard’s World of Warcraft to the big screen. With a game this popular and a fanbase this fanatical, it would be silly not to capitalize on it. Of course, assuming the movie sucks, which it likely will, legions of pimply faced kids are going to come down on the filmmakers with all the wrath of a level 60 raiding party! So far all we actually know is that Warner Bros.-based production company Legendary Pictures (Superman Returns, 300, Lady in the Water) have picked up the rights to make a World of Warcraft movie. There are no other details to go on at this time, but it is confirmed that they plan to make a live action adaptation set in the fantasy world of Azeroth. It also remains to be seen whether or not a character named Leeroy Jenkins will make an appearance in the film.
