This Week on DVD – May 9, 2006
A big DVD week in terms of quantity, but as far as quality goes there are only a few things that look worthwhile. Steven Spielberg’s Munich is out in a single-disc and double-disc edition and is highly recommended, Terrence Malick’s The New World looks interesting, and 2 more episodes from Showtime’s Masters of Horror series should please genre fans. And then there’s the Adam Sandler-produced comedy Grandma’s Boy, Big Momma’s House 2, a new special edition of The Poseidon Adventure, and — surprise surprise — a ton of TV on DVD (TV box sets seem to be dominating store shelves on a weekly basis now).

Posted by Bassmasta-Baychuk on May 9th, 2006Tom, Get A Life has been out on DVD for a while now. No complete box sets, but there are 2 volumes listed on Amazon, each with 4 episodes.
Posted by Sean on May 9th, 2006Surprisingly, “The New World” was actually pretty good. I say surprisingly because the release was pushed back a couple of weeks and when it did come out, reception was mixed and lets be honest, with some of the names attached, it should have managed to get some people to the theatres but I’m pretty sure it failed miserably on that front.
Not a lot of dialogue here and yes, it’s long but the story is pretty good and the cinematography is breathtaking.
