United 93 Message Board Mysteriously Shut Down
With the release of United 93 last weekend, the 9/11 conspiracy nuts really came out of the woodwork, and in response the people at Universal Pictures have decided that they would rather not give them an opportunity to voice their theories. This week the message board that was on the United 93 movie website was taken offline, silencing a heated discussion about the possibility of a government cover-up. According to StopTheLie.com, the people involved in the online discussion were “mostly polite and articulate”, raising suspicion as to the true motives of the shut down. Although I don’t rule out some of these conspiracy theories myself, I have seen a few internet message boards in my day and I definitely would not describe the conversations as “polite and articulate”. It’s for this reason that I don’t really accuse Universal of doing anything other than trying to protect the integrity of their movie. But I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of people who interpret the shut down in other ways, seeing it as further proof of government meddling. What do you think, was Universal justified in shutting down the message board?

Censorship is one way of blocking the truth.
Think about it. If these guys were really nutso and wacko and whatever else you want to call them, then their arguments would be easy to dismiss, no?
Aye! That’s the rub! Conspiracy or not, much of it is irrefutable, but at the same time its more based on the hard facts than arguing or presenting a view influenced by emotion.

Posted by themarina on May 5th, 2006That is true. Anything that contradicts “their” version of things “has” to be censored. Otherwise visitor dissidence will increase and throw a gear into “Flight 93″’s gears.
