However, Leo, the movie theatre is not a place to socialize, nor is it a place to disturb others who actually want to see the movie.

Today’s youth feel they don’t have to possess social ettiquette. This cell phone ban issue must have originated where a group of theatre goers who “had enough!”.

I don’t blame them.

it’s the culture now – no need to bite the hand that feeds you – youth are the regulars at the movies, so the last thing you wanna do is make their experience uncomfortable by taking away their phone service.

Movies are NOT the most important thing in the world – and, hey, if I wanna leave the movie to talk to my friend who is having drama with his girl, then why not?

It demonstrates a person’s desire for social interaction versus sitting dormant in front of a big screen.

Of course somebody would have to set it on “vibrate” in the first place.

I’m not familiar with cell phones as I don’t use one, but I know some people purposley let their phones ring even in lecture. Why is that? Do they actually “forget” to turn it off, or do they like to announce to all that they own a cell phone?

Yeah, or whatever happened to pagers… do those things still exist? Although they’d still need to be set on vibrate of course.

Like a coworker of mine said on the topic, “what did they do before cell phones?”

If someone needs to get in touch, they can call a land line.

I think it is a step in the right direction, other than banning cellphone use totally.

However, the stigma is that one “important” call that may come through, but those are 1 in a 100.
