Thor Movie Casts Travolta’s Nephew?
Alright, now here’s one of those news stories that started to pop up around April 1st so I’m not sure how seriously to take it just yet. However, it does seem fairly reliable, and has been reported from a bunch of different places. Marvel is currently prepping a movie based on the Thor comic book, with a script being written by comic book go-to guy David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Ghost Rider, the Blade trilogy). Now while a director has not yet been chosen, it looks as though the Norse thunder god himself has been cast. The lucky actor? None other than John Travolta’s nephew Rikki Lee Travolta. He is apparently a Shakespearean actor with martial arts training, but he’s certainly not someone I’d expect to play Thor… I was thinking more someone along the lines of a wrestler. Still, if you check out Travolta’s website you can see some pictures of himself with long, dyed blonde hair, and maybe (just maybe) there is a resemblance there. Personally I’m still not sure what kind of direction they’ll be taking this movie but I hope they go completely over the top with it. Thor was one of the best parts of the Ultimate Avengers animated movie, and while I’m sure lots of people hate the “Ultimate” version of Thor, I think a movie based on that character would rule.

This dude can’t be Thor. A Thunder God would never have such a fucking ghetto website.

FUN FACT
Rikki Lee Travolta originally read for the role of Robin in the movie Batman and
Robin, but was deemed too muscular standing next to the caped crusader.
DID YOU ALSO KNOW…When traveling he has been known to make hotel reservations under
the names of comic book superheroes.
FUN FACT
Posted by ruurd on April 3rd, 2006Rikki Lee wrote and directed his first play at the age of 6 – an adaptation of
Rumplestiltskin.
DID YOU ALSO KNOW…Originally performed as a school play, Rumplestiltskin was so popular
that it toured throughout the city.
hulk hogan would be great as Thor! hehehe
Posted by Chopper on April 4th, 2006Too muscular to play Robin? Then Rikki Lee is obviously the perfect choice for Thor. I wonder if any other celebrity (relatives) are in consideration. I’d love to see Charlie Murphy cracking heads with Mjolnir.
The more I learn about Rikki Lee, the more likely he’ll become the #1 D-List actor that I’ll want to stalk.
FUN FACT (aka EMBARRASSING SHIT)
Posted by Nuno on April 4th, 2006Daughter, Jessica Sara, was named after John Stamos’ character on the series Full House.
I’m not opposed to Rikki Lee Travolta as Thor. He’s muscular and 6′1 and has Shakespearean acting background. He’d probably act the heck out of the roll, but is 6′1 too small for Thor? Isn’t Thor supposed to be 6′6? Then again, where are you going to find a 6′6 classically trained actor. I think Rikki Lee Travolta might be the best compromise between size and talent.
