April Fool’s Gag Leads To Joss Whedon’s Next Movie Project?
I always take news that I hear on April 1st with a grain of salt, but sometimes these stories are closer to the truth than we might initially think. Here’s a bizarre story being reported from various sources today that shows the power of internet suggestion, and also gives a hint as to what Buffy/Firefly creator Joss Whedon may be up to next. As we all know, he is currently attached to write and direct the Wonder Woman feature film, and being the comic book fanboy that he is, it seems like a perfect fit. Now try this on for size: Joss Whedon directing the live action Underdog movie??? Word on the street is that a certain movie news website concocted this little story as an April Fool’s Day joke, but soon after the news had been posted, word began to trickle in that it may actually be true. Inside sources say execs at Disney and Spyglass Entertainment have begun courting Whedon for the job, and that they hadn’t even considered him until they read the story themselves. That’s when they realized that Whedon’s knack for humourous dialogue and affection for the superhero genre would be ideal. The same inside source claims Whedon is actually a huge Underdog fan and that he wanted to have the canine characters utter curse words in “doggy talk” in order to add to the realism of the film. What a strange turn of events. While only a few days ago I had no interest whatsoever in this Underdog movie, it has suddenly vaulted to the top of my must-see list. Joss Whedon is God!
