No Ash In The Evil Dead Remake?
We all know there’s a lot of Evil Dead fanboys out there hanging on Bruce Campbell’s every word, so when he recently opened his mouth to talk about the upcoming Evil Dead remake with Penny Blood Magazine… people listened. Campbell didn’t have many new details to reveal, except that the remake will indeed be happening eventually, and that the story will involve a whole new group of characters. Which means — no Ash. I suppose this is their way of getting around the fact that Bruce Campbell himself will not be in the remake. Internet message boards ran wild last year when a rumour circulated that Ashton Kutcher might be starring as Ash in the movie (which turned out to be inaccurate). Personally I don’t see how you can have an Evil Dead without Ash… is it still Evil Dead at that point? At any rate, I think it’s safe to assume that they will be treading lightly when it comes to the remake, as this movie is holy ground for a lot of people.

They should the original the way it was.
I do not support a remake on this one.

Do think anyone looks at angry message boards of people hating on the fact that Ashton could be Ash and then kill the idea of him playing the role? I think it’s possible nowadays.

Posted by Bassmasta-Baychuk on March 22nd, 2006I think they absolutely read message boards nowadays. Blogs and internet buzz have a lot of influence on whether or not people to go to see movies, they’d be crazy not to listen to them. Of course, it’s a matter of taking people’s opinions with a grain of salt… sometimes the fanboys just don’t know what they’re talking about.
Bruce Campbell in particular is pretty close to his fanbase and the various internet communities, so I’m sure he was well aware that people hated the idea of Ashton Kutcher starring in the remake. Whether or not that was actually a possibility or just a rumour remains to be seen.
Posted by Sean on March 22nd, 2006If we didn’t associate Ashton to his sitcom and Demi Moore and a couple of his lamish movies (butterfly effect was good) and punk’d….I don’t think the die hard fans would be upset.
Kinda like not using DiCapprio as the grown Anakin in Ep. II & III was a relief….always best to go with an expendable new comer who would be able to carry on future movies if need be.
