Michael Winterbottom’s Controversial Documentary “Road To Guantanamo”

British director Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, Code 46) has a new documentary that will get a U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next month. Road To Guantanamo is a controversial documentary about three young British Muslims who were captured in Afghanistan in 2001 and held at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba for 3 years without charge or legal representation. The movie features interviews with the men, along with news footage and dramatized re-enactments of their experiences at the prison, including disturbing methods of torture. Road to Guantanamo premiered earlier this year at the Berlin Film Festival, where Winterbottom won the Silver Bear award for Best Director. The movie has also since aired on British TV network Channel 4, and is now available for paid download. All I know is that any movie that was truthful enough to cause its actors to be detained for questioning at a British airport must be worth checking out. Check out more info and a trailer for the movie now at the Channel 4 site, linked below.
