Here’s a trailer for a movie that opens in big cities across Canada this weekend, it’s called Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey and it’s a documentary about the history of heavy metal. Although the joke of heavy metal being silly has been done a little too often at this point (This is Spinal Tap, FUBAR), this movie sounds like it balances substantial information and interesting interviews with the funnier side of headbanger culture. Director Sam Dunn happens to be an anthropologist, so he examines the cultural impact of metal and explores some of the many common themes including sexuality, religion and death.
