New Friday The 13th Flick Finds A Director
It seems that production on a new Friday The 13th movie is indeed moving ahead at a fairly brisk pace… a pace they’ll have to maintain if they hope to have the film out in time for Friday, October 13th. Last week we found out that Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes was on board, and now it seems the movie has been assigned a director as well. The name is Jonathan Liebesman, who previously directed Darkness Falls along with the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. To be fair, I haven’t seen Darkness Falls, but this is kind of what I was afraid of when I heard that Platinum Dunes would be involved. I can’t say I’m excited about the prospect of another flashy young director giving the Friday The 13th franchise a hip and modern edge. The script is currently being written by Mark Wheaton who also wrote the upcoming Pang Brothers movie, The Messenger. From the sounds of it, the new movie will be a retelling of the events from the first 4 Jason movies, but of course he will wear the iconic hockey mask which was first introduced in Part 3.

So obviously its being intended as a fresh new start to a new crowd. Really crossing my fingers on this one.
