Tim Burton Denies Rumours of Beetlejuice Sequel
A couple days ago The Movie Reporter had a story up about a possible Beetlejuice sequel in the works. This was initiated by an e-mail from a reader who claimed to have met Michael Keaton at Disneyland, and although it sounded a little far-fetched to me, let’s face it… there’s been a lot weirder and more bone-headed sequels being greenlit as of late. Anyways, they have since managed to track down Tim Burton and he laid the rumours to rest… watch the interview at the link below. Burton’s next movie will be Believe It or Not, a biopic about Robert Ripley and his search for the greatest oddities in the world. Jim Carrey is reportedly in talks to star.

well i am glad that they are not going to make a sequel to Beetlejuice, its been too long in between movies if they did. and i dont think that it would be a sucees. as for the Ripleys movie, that sounds like it will be a good flick, i am surprised though that Johnny Depp is not in it.
Posted by Chopper aka Mikie on February 20th, 2006tim rocks! i know hes not making a beetlejuice sequeal because tims movies are special and movies lke his are so good a sequal wouldnt be as good. ripley will be a great movie because i had my doubts about charlie but i just said to myself tim will make a good movie he always does no matter how crazy. and sure enough it was a great movie and i have the dvd!
Posted by derek schatz on March 15th, 2006I heard Johnny Depp would have been in it but he’s got previous commitments to attend to. Jim Carrey? I’m sure he’ll do fine, but why not Timmothy Stack? He kind of looks like Ripley.
Either way, looking very forward to this as a fan of Robert L. Ripley and an even bigger fan of Tim W. Burton.
Posted by Lucky Redlightbulbs on May 23rd, 2006Well, it’s 2008, so I guess the sequel idea died. Much as I loved this film (and it took a while–Burton is, for some, an “acquired taste”!), I think it stands alone well. My sister lives in one of places it was filmed (in VT) and that makes it even weirder, since the area really is beautiful! I loved watching Catherine O’Hara as the effete art snob and Jeffrey Jones (remember him as the emperor in “Amadeus”?), as the downtrodden husband. Ryder was great, as always!
