“Chibi-Robo”: A Vacuum Cleaner Game for the Gamecube!

January and February are traditionally pretty slow months for video game releases, and that definitely seems to have proven true in 2006. However, here’s a quirky new game coming out next week for the Gamecube that’s going to redefine the meaning of fun! Okay, so I am being a little sarcastic here, but I’ve gotta admit to being somewhat curious. “Chibi-Robo” is a Japanese game in which you control a high-tech housecleaning robot that performs various chores such as picking up trash in order to please its family. Along the way you get upgraded with gadgets such as a helicopter attachment allowing you to glide to hard to reach places. It sounds more than a little like Katamari Damacy if you ask me, but definitely fits in with some of Nintendo’s other strange titles (it’s actually developed by Skip Tokyo and published by Bandai). Maybe it will be lame or maybe it will be creative and unique. All I know is this is the perfect chance for someone to remake the Commodore 64 classic, “Lawn”, in which you control a lawnmower. Someone out there… make it happen! Chibi-Robo will be released on February 6th.
