The Next Great Prime Minister: The Next Great Reality Show

It only makes sense that one day we’d eventually see something like this on TV… I just didn’t expect Canada to be the first ones to think of it. “The Next Great Prime Minister” is a reality TV show that will air next month with 5 young candidates competing against each other in public speaking and debating to win $50,000 and a political internship. Former PM’s Kim Campbell, Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney, and John Turner will be the judges who decide on the winner. This show is an extension of an annual competition called “As Prime Minister“, that invited students across Canada to write an essay answering the question, “If you were the Prime Minister of Canada, what would you do to improve living standards and unite the country?” The only disappointing thing about the show is that it seems to be only a one-hour special rather than a series. It will air on CTV on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. Now if we could just take the idea a step further: I think that all disputes between countries should be fought by a Fear Factor style competition between national leaders.

  1. I can already count two of the candidates out of the running by their last names. I mean, could you imagine a Prime Minister Butt? Or what about Ms. McCracken? You know she was teased in school!

  2. is this for real? could you imagine that this could be the way of picking our leaders of the world. i mean i would rather do this, then go out and vote.
