Indie Production Company Pursues Firefly Season 2
Firefly fans just don’t know when to quit. I’m sorry, but even Trekkies aren’t as obsessive as this ragtag bunch and it’s all getting a little out of hand. Despite the fact that Joss Whedon himself has said he’s done with the show (a sudden explosion of Firefly DVD sales notwithstanding), these so-called “Browncoats” simply won’t let go. The latest effort to revive the show comes from an independent production studio who have launched a website at www.fireflyseason2.com in order to see if there is demand for a second season of the show. They are hoping that with enough support, they can convince Fox to transfer the rights to them. Yeah, like that’s going to happen. They are hoping to distribute the show in a “groundbreaking new format”, either through monthly DVD deliveries, video on demand, or streaming internet downloads. So let me get this straight… they’re going to officially continue the series on their own, without Joss Whedon? I don’t know about you but I have no interest in seeing any Firefly fan films in my lifetime (although I’m sure some probably already exist out there).
