Preview More Devo 2.0 Audio and Video Online

A few weeks ago we reported on the simultaneously strange and sad news that new wave pioneers Devo are repackaging themselves as a kids’ cover band under the name “Dev2.0″, with an upcoming album/DVD to be released through Walt Disney Records. Anyone curious to see how exactly this ridiculous concept will play out might want to head over to the newly launched Dev2.0 website, which offers up a wealth of sanitized audio-visual devolutionary propaganda to go with the project. You can view 9 of the 12 videos in their entirety and listen to audio samples from the whole album. Among them are 2 brand new songs “Cyclops” and “The Winner”, the latter of which contains the nauseatingly optimistic chorus “You… you’re a winner, you can do it!” I’m really starting to hate these kids. As a Devo fan I cannot hear the new version of “Uncontrollable Urge” without wanting to hurt someone. And can someone please explain to me why the song “Girl U Want” has been renamed to “Boy U Want” although the lyrics are exactly the same as the original?
