Silent Hill Movie Trailer Hits The Web
Silent Hill is probably the first video game movie that I will admit to having high hopes for, and I’ve been impatiently waiting for some evidence to come along and affirm my gut feeling that this will be a decent, if not great, horror flick. With Christophe Gans (“Brotherhood of the Wolf”) at the helm and Roger Avary (“Pulp Fiction”, “Rules of Attraction”) writing the script, we can at least agree that it’s not just typical two-bit hacks piecing this thing together. It also helps that the Silent Hill games themselves have an interesting premise and creepy atmosphere to begin with. A full trailer still has not yet been released, but there is a short teaser intro on the movie’s official site that is composed of real footage… just enough to whet our appetite. You can watch the teaser in Quicktime here. Elsewhere, IGN also has a nice collection of images from the movie. If you ask me, all signs point to a winner (so far). Silent Hill is scheduled to hit theatres on April 21st.
UPDATE: The full trailer just came online over at Yahoo!. What a coincidence.

I as well am hoping for this to be at least “good” instead of laughable or forgettable. The Silent Hill “quadology” make for great video game playing, because the player becomes part of the experience (like jumping at unexpected sound while search dark basements) absorbing the story and the creepy atmosphere.
How its going to frighten or disturb the viewing audience (who has the attention span of a bed wetting 4 yr old) is going to be very challenging indeed!
As for the trailer, it looks very stylish and promising! (keep our fingers crossed!)
