A couple weeks ago I noticed that there was an independent film playing in Toronto called “The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico”. I never thought much of it, until I later discovered that this movie stars Super Friendz/Flashing Lights frontman Matt Murphy in the lead role. The movie is a mockumentary (seemingly Canada’s favourite indie film genre lately) about a fictional washed-up country singer who must overcome his life of excess to reclaim his “country crown” as it were. Directed by Michael Mabbott, the cast also includes Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard among others. I can’t say I would expect much from a film like this (mockumentaries have been way too overdone lately) but I am curious about Murphy’s performance. He also wrote the soundtrack I believe.
