Virgin Music Ad Game: Find The Band Names
I’m not sure how many people have seen this yet but I thought it was kind of neat. Virgin Music and Ground Zero have created a viral game in order to promote Virgin’s new digital music service. Basically it’s an illustration with 74 band names hidden somewhere in it. If you find even just one you can enter a draw for a bunch of Virgin prizes (only if you live in the U.S. though). Still, even without the prizes, it provides hours of fun. Some examples are a guy with a sledgehammer “smashing pumpkins”, or 20 matchboxes laying on the ground (“matchbox 20″). The official game over at Heavy.com also has a little digital magnifying glass tool to help you out. How many bands can you find? Why not post your answers here, and we’ll see how many we can get.

Posted by Lizz on December 5th, 2005D-12 is wrong; I have painstakingly entered each and every one of these bands into the official game site, and all 73 are right; you might have to mess with the capitalization (“the killers” didn’t work, but “The Killers” did), and sometimes you need the “the” (like with “The Pixies”) and sometimes you don’t (like with “eagles” instead of “the eagles”).
As for 311, I don’t know where it came from, but it works.
Jane’s Addiction is hanging out with the Cowboy Junkies.

A lot of the others are kind of weak and there are some good yet incorrect answers for some things. Examples: Small Faces/Lemonheads and (Ph)ish/Fish or the Mary Jane Girls/The Go-Gos Just depends on how vague you want to be.
