Former Creed Singer Scott Stapp Gets Jumped By 311
For a Christian rocker, ex-Creed frontman Scott Stapp always seems to be getting into an awful lot of trouble. In this latest mishap that took place over Thanksgiving, reports indicate that Stapp got into a brawl with members of 311 at a hotel in Baltimore. 311 alleges that Stapp tried to start a fight by stepping in front of a television they were watching basketball on, and stating simply, “311, I am ready to fight”. (Man, I am gaining respect for this guy already… him and Russell Crowe should hang out.) When 311 tried to avoid a confrontation, he went on to make inappropriate comments to one dude’s wife, before suckerpunching 311 drummer Chad Sexton. The director of security at the hotel, however, tells a different story. He says that Stapp was attacked by members of 311, and did not instigate the fight. No arrests were made, although 311’s turntablist did break a finger. Either way, both parties win… nothing like a good feud to fuel record sales!

funny story, there is no way the 311 people, who are a bunch of really nice guys started a fight with stapp.. who i can so vividly imagine as a drunken asshole..
Posted by pete tong on December 3rd, 2005i can believe anyone wanted to beat up Scott Stapp… even Gandhi.
311 are supposedly high all the time which to me would be the only mitigating factor. otherwise, while I dont think they’re the worst band in the world, I’ve always considered them somewhat poser-ish, like the jocks who buy Bob Marley posters. I always saw the side that could get in a fight.
Posted by Goon on December 3rd, 2005Scott Stapp just has a history of being a dick and it seems that he would be an instigator in any situation. They probably made some snide comment to him and he took it too far.
Posted by jackson on December 4th, 2005well according to the interview i read.. stapp instigated it by coming into the bar drunk and insulting them..i dont think they are high all the time anymore… but i can see how you’d view them as kinda “poserish” but.. really I think theyre a great band with loads of solid songs..sure they come off weak at times.. corny music videos don’t help.. however, id suggest catching them live, always in top form and very impressive.
Posted by pete tong on December 4th, 2005Goon… you’re a goon. You know nothing about 311. pete tong said it best.
Posted by jon on January 6th, 2006i’ve seen their live video they released around ‘97, and had their live album at one point. the ‘give em a chance’ thing aint gonna work with me. i listened to them for years and knew them as well as any big fan… i just lost interest when i you know… discovered good music.
Posted by Goon on January 6th, 2006Screw any of you people that say anything bad about 311. If any of you actually new anything you would know that they would never start the fight, they’d finish it though just like they did. You, Goon, do not know anything about what being a poser is. 311 is a band who is more real than any other. They are every kind of good music rolled into one great sound. Their positive message obviously rolled right over your head
Posted by Anti-goon on January 23rd, 2006you realize i’m mostly just egging you on? okay, i’ll keep going, i’m just fishing for funny comments from 311 fans…
‘if you actually new anything’ – i dont even need to say it…
311 are ‘real’ all right, real shitty. you say every kind of good music? i say jack of all trades, master of none.
positive message. know what else had a positive message? “Step By Step”… I dont see you signing any petitions for its DVD release.
Posted by Goon on January 23rd, 2006As a dedicated 311 fan, I want to say that they are a very down to earth band. And most of them are family men. In the past, they were a little more unruly, but over the years, as they have acquired wives and children, and a mature lifestyle, their music changed right along with them. Its not that they are weak, or posers, they have just grown up. And, instead of keeping the same “punk” sound, and looking/acting like they are all still in their early 20s- they choose to let their music mature along with them. That, in itself, shows that they are practical and down to earth individuals. Mu husband and I have been listening to them religiously for 10 years, and nothing ever gets old and songs are always good- old and new ones. When we renew our wedding vows, our wedding song is going to be “Love Song”. Our other “us” song is “Amber”. 311 has a song for every emotion, and that is one of the things that makes us love them so much… They have those kind of albums that you can pop into the player and just let it play- no having to skip around to certain song #s. I hope they stay strong like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. Guess we will have to wait and see if they can make it. Here’s to Good Luck in their journey…
