Coen Brothers Radio Drama “Sawbones” Now Online
Back in the summer it was reported that the Coen Brothers and Charlie Kaufman had written unique radio plays that were to be performed in front of live audiences in London and New York. The plays, named “Sawbones” and “Hope Leaves The Theater”, starred such actors as Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. The project was called “Theater of the New Ear” and one of the performances was recorded by Sirius satellite radio to be broadcast sometime in September. Well now it is a couple months later, and I went searching online to find that both radio plays have been made available in MP3 format. Unfortunately, the Charlie Kaufman one, previously available from Being Charlie Kaufman, was later taken down due to overwhelming bandwidth costs. “Sawbones” however is still available in 2 parts over at the Coen Bros fan site, “You Know, For Kids!“. You can hear a few audio samples of Hope Leaves The Theater here and here. If anyone finds a full MP3 of it out there in cyberland, please let us know!
