Just a few short days ago it was confirmed that Dimension Films picked up the rights to distribute the movie adaptation of the Dead or Alive video game series directed by Corey Yuen (The Transporter). It recently wrapped filming in China, and is expected to be released sometime in the fall of 2006. Anyways, it appears that no sooner was a deal struck than did a promo teaser trailer for the movie find its way online through not-so-authorized channels. I’m not sure if this is what was used to sell the movie, but either way it’s quite amusing. This is one video game to movie adaptation that looks like it’s going to be so bad it’s good. The movie stars Devon Aoki, Sarah Carter, and Natassia Malthe, along with Kane Kosugi as Ryu Hayabusa. Strangely, the game’s male characters don’t seem all that well represented here… okay, maybe it’s not so strange. I just hope there’s a volleyball scene.
