Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s “Lady In The Water”
With his last movie “The Village”, it seemed that M. Night Shyamalan had worn out his welcome with critics and movie-goers alike. His penchant for twist endings and melodrama had gone too far, and people were no longer coming along for the ride. So of course, I was interested to see what his next project would be like. Would he continue doing dark thrillers about the supernatural, or was it time for him to branch out and try something completely new? Well, it looks like his next movie is not about ghosts or aliens or even made-up boogeymen. Nope. It turns out, it’s about… mermaids? Okay, “sea nymphs” to be more precise… and no, unfortunately this is not a remake of Splash. But this is all more than a little strange. The first teaser trailer for “Lady In The Water” is now playing over at Apple, and the tagline bills it simply as “A Bedtime Story”. It sure doesn’t look like a typical Shyamalan movie, but right at the end of the trailer the music gets a little sinister and hints that maybe there is something more going on than meets the eye. An evil sea nymph perhaps? Lady in the Water stars Paul Giamatti and Bryce Dallas Howard, and is scheduled for release on July 21st, 2006. Click below to watch the trailer and decide for yourself whether or not Shyamalan’s completely off his rocker.

Interesting concept.
Hopefully it turns out well.
Posted by Bassmasta-Baychuk on November 22nd, 2005On the documentary section of “Unbreakable”, Shyamalan says he doesn’t want to be know as “That guy who does twist endings”. then he went on to make 2 more movies with twist endings. The guy can write, and direct, and i loved “The Village” when it seemed like no one else did.
If THIS movie has a twist ending, he’s fucking fired. The twist ending ship has sailed.
I want to see him direct other people’s scripts. I think it would be great. He needs to branch out.
Posted by manic panda on November 24th, 2005i think so many people gave him the “you’re the next Hitchcock” Kool Aid that hes’ grown to believe it and doesnt feel he should have to do anything but his own scripts.
