Richard Donner has directed such timeless classics as The Goonies, The Omen, Lethal Weapon and Superman. but did you know that he also partially directed Superman II? He shot much of part 2 simultaneously with the first Superman flick, but then was removed from the project due to creative differences. Warner Brothers brought in Richard Lester to rewrite and reshoot scenes, with Donner’s contribution eventually going uncredited on the final product. Well now, 25 years later, Donner is finally getting his chance to complete the movie the way he wanted to. A special edition DVD of Superman II is in the works, with Donner’s all new director’s cut getting similar treatment to Paul Schrader’s alternate version of The Exorcist prequel.
