Those Beastie Boys, I’m telling you… they’re always on the cutting edge. Sometime last year they had the brilliant idea of making a movie out of one of their live performances — but with a twist. They gave 50 fans Hi8 cameras so that they could shoot the concert in any manner that they saw fit from their own perspective. Afterwards, they recruited world renowned director Nathaniel Hornblower (aka Adam Yauch) to edit all that footage into some semblance of a film. What a mess that must have been. The movie, which is called “Awesome: I Fuckin’ Shot That”, has now been picked up for distribution by ThinkFilm and will be hitting the festival circuit next year before being released on DVD. Sounds intriguing… this could either be really cool or it could be just 2 hours of fans smoking ganja. Either way I’m in. “Beastie Boys Parking Lot” anyone?
