Watch A Trailer For Snowboarding Doc “First Descent”
Do you like snowboarding? If so, you’ll probably be interested in the upcoming documentary “First Descent”, which covers the history of the sport and its controversial rise in popularity. While I’m sure this movie was inspired by some of the recent acclaimed documentaries about skateboarding and surfing, somehow I can’t see it having quite the same level of drama as Stacy Peralta’s “Dogtown and Z-Boys” or “Riding Giants”. At the very least it promises some serious shredding both from pioneers of the sport (Shawn Farmer, Nick Perata, Terje Haakonsen) and current superstars (Shaun White, Hannah Teter). Directed by Kemp Curly and Kevin Harrison, First Descent will get a limited theatrical release on December 2, 2005. IGN has the exclusive trailer ready for download (linked below). You can bet documentaries on BMX, hanggliding, wakeboarding, water skiing, cliff diving, inline skating, and every other extreme sport won’t be far off.

It’s funny to see how in the passed 10 years how huge snowboarding has gotten. When I started riding in 94 most hills didn’t even allow snowboarders and I even got skiers hitting me with their poles on the hill. Now it’s so normal it’s more popular and trendy than skiing.
