I found your no star review of Doom, Sean. You must have convinced every one of your readers not to see it, since I'm the first to comment on it.

Although I have played the various incarnations of Doom, I'm not a fan of the franchise because I get motion sickness playing first person games. I admit the only reason I purchased the DVD was because of Karl Urban who is playing Dr. McCoy in the next Star Trek movie.

*** Spoilers to follow ***

I thought The Rock did a great acting job as a dedicated soldier. That he became the villain of the piece was unexpected. Urban certainly has charisma and though he broods a lot in the film, he does it convincingly. The brother / sister dynamic is refreshing. Even though sibling bickery is commonplace, it's nice to see the brother actually care about the sister and go back to rescue her.

I thought the concept of the nanowall was way cool. I would expect there to be more stringent safeguards to prevent someone or something from being integrated into the wall, but I accept the creative licence used.

The creature creation by Stan Winston's group was impressive. I thought the monsters were all CGI, so I was surprised to find out most of the monsters were guys in monster suits.

I thought the first-person sequence was well integrated into the film. It was just long enough, and I didn't get sick watching it.

I can't think of a movie with a worthwhile plot. Citizen Kane has a pretty crappy plot. The Godfather is boring. Apocalypse Now is silly. Plots are way overrated.

Sean, sorry if I've disturbed you. Doom made me happy.
