The Return Of The Rentals… Again
So it seems that Matt Sharp has finally gotten over his “solo artist” phase, and yet those pesky rumours about him rejoining Weezer have proven to be unfounded thus far. However, it appears that in the meantime he has decided to reform his other band, The Rentals. According to Sharp’s own website, which has now been transformed into the new official Rentals website, the band is currently in Los Angeles writing and recording a third album (the follow-up to 1999’s lacklustre “Seven More Minutes”), expected to be released sometime in 2006. From the sounds of it, the entire original line-up is involved in this reunion too. Head over to the website and check out a brand new video for the song “Please Let That Be You”, in celebration of The Rentals’ 10 year anniversary.

OMG I can’t believe it’s finally happening! I’ve been recommending the band for like 11 years now to everyone of my friends and now…they’re back!!!
The best (entertainment) news I’ve heard in a long time!
Posted by trysop on October 27th, 2005haha of course, stupid me – I mean 10 years. Maybe this new album will play off Star Wars like their first album did and it will be titled ‘The Rentals Strike Back’.
Posted by trysop on October 27th, 2005I have been a Matt Sharp fan forever. I have followed his solo work, which I really liked, his show was so intimate and soothing. I can’t wait to hear the new record.
