Apparently the Asian horror movie invasion is still going strong here in America, but if I had to guess I’d say that this movie will probably make The Ring, The Grudge and Dark Water look like The Little Mermaid. “Three… Extremes” is a grotesque yet intriguing project that takes the talents of Takashi Miike (Ichi The Killer, Audition), Park Chan-wook (Oldboy), and Fruit Chan (okay, I don’t know what else he’s done) and combines them into one movie. Each of them directs their own short film, and as far as I know they are all self-contained. The segments are entitled “Box”, “Dumplings” and “Cut”.
